Benalup Walls

Benalup Walls is a project aimed at beautifying select emblematic locations in the town through street art. Local artists undertake the task of carefully graffiti chosen walls to transform them into true urban masterpieces. We have painted graffiti at the Secondary School, the market, the Culture’s house, and in a children’s school. Each mural is a unique expression of creativity and color, adding sparkle and energy to our surroundings.

More than just adding paint to walls, Benalup Walls is a way to celebrate the identity and spirit of our community. Each artwork tells a story, capturing the essence and beauty of Benalup in a distinctive and accessible manner for all.

We are proud of being part of this project, which not only embellishes our town but also fosters civic pride and appreciation for art in all its forms. Additionally, as part of our activities, we organized an afternoon of benefit concerts and workshops for children at the preschool.

Older women from Benalup

At Wakana Reunion, we are committed to community collaboration, and one of the ways we contribute to local love is through our partnership with the Asociación de Mujeres Mayores de Benalup.

These extraordinary women are masters in the art of sewing and creating recycled decorations, giving new life to forgotten materials. Their creativity and skills come together to embellish our spaces with unique and colorful decorations that highlight the importance of reuse and respect for the environment. In our collaboration, these amazing women bring their art to decorate our trees and common areas, infusing every corner of Wakana Reunion with special charm and an eco-friendly vibe.

But the alliance is not just about aesthetics. As a gesture of gratitude, we invite the women from the association to enjoy a day of togetherness at our facilities. A day dedicated to connection, fun, and celebrating community, in an environment that offers peace and serenity amidst nature.

This collaboration is not only an opportunity to beautify our spaces but also to honor and value the talent of our elders, whom we must not forget.

APADIS Bahía de Algeciras

Discover how we collaborate with APADIS Bahía de Algeciras to create a meaningful impact in our community.

APADIS Bahía de Algeciras started off in 1967 as the Association of Parents of Mentally Disabled Individuals of Algeciras, driven by a group of parents with a common characteristic: a child with intellectual disabilities. These parents joined forces to build a center where their children could attend after compulsory education, with the overarching goal of preparing them for labor and social integration according to their individual abilities. The Association is a member of PLENA INCLUSIÓN ANDALUCÍA (Andalusian Confederation of Organizations in favor of people with intellectual disabilities) and FEPROAMI (Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism of Cádiz).

Since 2019, we have collaborated with them by commissioning decorations made from recycled materials: lamps with dried pumpkins, hats, dreamcatchers, pom-poms, and more. Apart from using them to decorate all our magical festival, they had a stand at our market to sell these decorations and merchandising to the entire Wakana community.

We are also delighted to invite them to our festival, as we are deeply committed to social inclusion and equality. Everyone deserves to enjoy a safe space where they can be themselves, and Wakana is characterized by just that. We will continue collaborating with them in future events and enjoying our magical environment together.

AMAES Decorations

We also collaborate with AMAES – Recycled Decorations to make a positive impact on our community and environment.

AMAES, whose goal is to raise awareness in society about the importance of loving and protecting nature, engages in holistic activities that promote environmental respect and biodiversity. They are dedicated to protecting both terrestrial and underwater life, promoting sustainable development, eco-communities, bioconstruction, and national art. Additionally, they foster citizen cooperation in solving environmental, cultural, and awareness issues, aiming to improve our society’s current position and technology while preserving wild and free nature.

Since the beginning of Wakana Reunion, we have been collaborating with AMAES by commissioning recycled decorations. Their creations, made with passion and dedication, not only add beauty to our spaces but also serve as a reminder of the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

As part of our commitment to supporting local initiatives that align with our values, we are proud to work alongside AMAES. Together, we strive to create a more conscious and environmentally responsible community for generations to come.
