Umbral

by Judith Naess

Art installation

UMBRAL is a point of passage — the moment when something changes, between what was and what is yet to come. This project is born from that intuition: that every moment holds the possibility of transformation.

Judith Naess turns her intimate archive into floating bodies — images suspended on translucent fabrics that are activated by wind, light, and the presence of those who pass through them.

These are not static photographs, but living presences that inhabit the threshold: the unstable, the porous, what vibrates between worlds. As the viewer moves through the installation, they do not merely observe — they participate. Crossing these images is also crossing a threshold.
