If the sounds of Gainsbourg, King Krule, Chet Baker and the Strokes, strike a chord with you, meet French artist, Thomas Guerlet. Guerlet writes, composes, produces, and performs, both in English and in French, with a raspy crooner’s voice backed by soothing jazz harmonies.

Thomas Guerlet left France to live in England at the age of 14. He attended boarding school Harry Potter style- uniform, tie and all until his baccalaureate which lead him to develop a taste for wearing suits to say the least. At the age of 17 he decided to leave for Liverpool to attend the music school established by Sir Paul McCartney. There Guerlet thrived in the energy of a bustling working-class city and with all the many sounds which surrounded him on a daily basis. After this 7-year-long English getaway, he launched his own project in Paris and sold-out La Boule Noire in May 2019.

He describes the sweet and bitter pain of nostalgia and the passing of time in his first single «How Strange!». He returned with «Crystal Clear», a more confidential song, which describes bare the incomprehension and the contained rage in front of sometimes too bitter emotions.

If Thomas works alone on his songs, he sure knows how to surround himself with well-known people in the industry. With his first single, «How Strange!», he collaborated with Ash Workman who collaborated closely with Christine and The Queens, Baxter Dury, and even Metronomy.
