Cousins Mike Sharp and Joel Roberts started making music together after experiencing synchronised spiritual awakenings in planet earth’s techno capital: Berlin. With Mike on vocals and guitar and Joel on keys and Ableton, the pair create atmospheric electronic jams that incorporate everything from post-rock to ambient electronica. Otzeki’s bitter sweet symphonies are built around the idea of duality, while Mike’s gently political lyrics dwell on everything from death to taxes. The duo’s debut album Binary Childhood came out earlier this year on Discophorus records and is a multilayered dissertation on the internet and our co-existing private and public personas. Deep.
